FUZZY LOGIC BASED CONTROLLER FOR BRUSHLESS DC MOTOR

Abstract


In this paper, a model of a three phase star – connected brushless direct current (BLDC) motor is presented. The state-space model for a BLDC motor is derived and is implemented using Matlab/Simulink. Torque and Speed control is applied using hysteresis band control and variable DC-link voltage control. The different control strategies are tested on the BLDC motor and their performance is evaluated. A Fuzzy Logic Controller(FLC) is also developed to control the torque and speed of BLDC motor and is also implemented. The conventional and fuzzy logic control algorithms are compared. Also, the dynamic characteristics of the BLDC motor and as well as the phase currents and back-emfs are easily observed and analyzed by using the developed model.
