DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF A VARACTOR-TUNED RF FILTER

Abstract


An electronically tunable filter at VHF/UHF frequency range is presented in this paper. The filter uses coupling capacitors and commercially available varactors for filter tuning. The filter has a 60% tuning range from 100 MHz to 400 MHz with a low insertion loss (better than 3 dB). Adjusting the common control voltage source in order to tune the filter for operating at desired frequency is implemented using microcontroller. Here a software code is implemented into the hardware for its controlling mechanism and tuning mechanism.The principle object of the invention is to provide a novel selective RF circuit optimized for performance and component count and to provide digitally controllable selective RF tuning system.
